Confidentiality Policy

I have a duty to follow the Data Protection Act 1998, any information regarding your child or your family (whether that be verbal or in writing) will be treated as confidential and will be kept in line with this Act.

Parents will have access to their own child’s records but not to others. All documentation relating to your child is stored in a file (either online or in a locked filing cabinet, which is not accessible to any other party.

I will not discuss your child with others unless I have written permission from you. I will only break confidentiality if I have any concerns that your child’s welfare.

Agencies that may be informed; (but not limited to)

  • Social Services
  • Ofsted
  • Police

Due to the nature of a Child carer’s role, you will discover personal information about my family and myself during the course of our working relationship and I would ask you not to repeat anything you learn to anyone else. I will not disclose information about your family unless I have a legal reason to do so.
